Tell me more about your Offerings, including the differences between them?
Let’s start with coaching and mentoring, as I often see how they merge into one in our everyday thinking and conversations. As a practitioner of both, I believe clarity is key. Dr. Lucy Harding’s descriptions resonate strongly with me and reflect how I approach my own work. ~ Coaching: You generate insights. The focus is on your thinking, awareness and choices. I support the process. ~. Mentoring: I share insights. The focus is on my experience, knowledge and perspective. You apply what fits. In the advisory part of my practice, I collaborate with individuals and organisations, and together we shape tangible solutions. Partnering with individuals the focus is on themes of intentional leadership, strategy, career. Partnering with business owners, leadership teams and People and Culture [HR] teams, along with strategy and compliance, there is often a cultural dimension – navigating change, transition and transformation, and supporting values-led behaviours. In practice, this may include research, proposal writing, and regular onsite or online meetings to ensure agreed outcomes are delivered. Differences aside, all my Offerings share one key aim – to strengthen people and organisations from within. They also share a foundational toolkit: trust, confidentiality, collaboration, curiosity, active listening, supportive challenge, reflection, presence and a values-led approach. My approach is also informed by your unique context and intentions. Some people and organisations come with crystal-clear goals; others find that clarity naturally unfolds once we start talking.
What is your initial approach?
In the first instance I would usually suggest a free Discovery Call; online, maximum 30-minutes. Whether you’re an individual or an organisation, a Discovery Call gives us an opportunity to meet and exchange information. To connect and see if the chemistry is right; a key part of any partnership. Your initial query helps shape our conversation and possible next steps. This will likely include you taking time to further consider your needs and objectives: your goals or areas of focus and your looked-for outcomes. It will also include assessing whether I’m the right person to support you. Next steps may also include me providing more information, a proposal or quote, or a formal agreement for you to review and sign before we begin. Agreements clarify our work together by setting the terms and expectations of our engagement. They help preserve the integrity of our partnership.
What happens after a Discovery Call and an Agreement is in place?
While all my Offerings share the same key aim and foundational toolkit, the nature of our partnership – coach, mentor or advisor – informs the path forward. Through deep, confidential conversations, using evidence-based tools and resources, and by taking a whole-person, intuitive approach – practical outcomes begin to take shape. Coaching or mentoring sessions unfold to meet your needs in that moment. A session may unfold in this way: ~ We often begin with a check-in, setting an intention and goal/s for our time together. This may align to your broader objectives for our work together. Settling into a session is a chance to hear your reflections and explore what you’re bumping into – challenges, opportunities or emerging themes. ~ A session will then differ depending on whether we are coaching or mentoring. In coaching, I invite and support you to generate insights. In mentoring, I share insights. In both, our want is to create clarity, new awareness and fresh perspectives. ~ Sessions often end with you identifying any action/s and accountability measures that will support you to move forward. Again, these align to your broader objectives for our work together. In practice, my advisory work also involves confidential conversations with individuals or groups. After being fully briefed, it may also involve independent work and/or regular onsite or online meetings to deliver agreed outcomes.
How do we connect and how often? And what is the investment?
Your context, budget, preferences and needs shape how we connect, how often we meet, and the overall investment. ~ Connection and Pace I am based in Melbourne – Naarm. I work with people across the globe, both online and in person. My partnerships typically follow a hybrid model – connecting online and in person, if required. In my experience, each client sets their own pace. Across all my Offerings, individuals and organisations may have clear delivery timeframes, or the pace may naturally unfold once we start talking. Partnerships often begin with a flurry of activity. Openly discussing pace, ways of working and expectations helps create a strong foundation for the work that follows. In a coaching or mentoring engagement, we agree on the length and frequency of sessions at the start and throughout our partnership. The first session is generally longer. Shorter sessions often follow, though you set your pace. Your motivation is key to maintaining momentum. Where an organisation pays for a team member to receive coaching or mentoring, regular check-in meetings form part of the schedule. These support alignment between the person receiving support, the organisation and me. Our partnership can end at any time as outcomes are reached or needs change. ~ Investment A trusted partnership is an investment of time and money – providing value is important to me. Once we discuss your needs and before our formal engagement begins, I’ll provide you with a quote and/or formal agreement. This may cover – core costs, travel or other expenses, cancellation impacts, coaching or mentoring packages, payment and other terms.
